20hr Da Vinci Project

Who is this Guy?

Who am I?

My name is Linus, and I'm currently living out the last year of my high school career in the Midwest. Although i can occasionally be seen outside riding my bike around town, taking photographs for my blog and Interviewing interesting people, I spend most of my time sitting in front of whiteboards, dreaming up the next reckless project.

My biggest passions are philosophy, music, and design. I've loved philosophy for the sole reason that it's one of the few places where having no definite answer can be the right answer. My personal philosophy is largely that the world is essentially defined by uncertainties. And these inexplicable uncertainties, though disconcerting when trying to come to a firm conclusion about anything, is what allows the unpredictability of our futures. And to me, that uncertainty also means the freedom to choose (as far as I know) who I want to become and what values I hold the closest to my life.

I used to be much more of a math- and physics-nerd, but something clicked a year or so ago, and my interests shifted completely to the arts. While logic and equations can explain what's happening around you -- and it can do so, with extraordinarily beautiful accuracy -- it doesn't really answer the question of why what we find out about nature is meaningful. That question is delegated to philosophy and the arts.

In that spirit, and in the hopes of adding a factor of thrill and unexpected surprises to my lifestyle, I've been carrying on this project to learning something new every couple of weeks.

If you want to read about my life outside of crazy 1-week long adventures here, you can check out my main website over at The Lifelong Traveler. And if you want to contact me about anything, I'm usually reachable through [email protected].
